![]() Here at home in Sweden we have something we call Vasaloppet.
This year I’ll be in the contest for girls (30 kilometres) and the training is in full swing. I vary spinning, aerobics and strength training for best results. But I must admit that training of legs in the gym is really boring, I would like to have someone with me to make sure that I do not cheat ; )

Hi Maria!
Hope everything is great with you and Hälsoguiden!
I’m so impressed that you will be in the contest, it will be interesting to follow your training!
Merry christmas and good luck!
I write from South Florida, USA. I plan to do Vasaloppet in 2011. I am curious about what training is needed. We have no snow here, but I know how to cross country skii – we go to Colorado every spring and I ski all day for 5-6 days . The rest of the year I do road bicycling about 33 km 3 days a week, 66 km miles on Saturday and Sunday. On days that I not ride, I swim 1500 meters (2-3 days per week). I hope that by increasing my road cyling mileage, peaking at rides of 166 km 2 weeks before the event, I may be able to finish. What do you think? how is your training going?
Hi Niurka!
What fun that you’re going to do Vasaloppet, imagine you’re going right up to little Sweden to ski =)you have something fun to look forward to!
I think you’ve chosen a good way to practice before the Vasaloppet but I would also recommend weight training.
I would replace one or two of your cycling or swimming workouts to strength training of the legs, arms, back and stomach. Don´t forget to rest from training every now and then to let the body recover.
Please let me know if there is something more you wonder about
Good Luck!
