Well Bill it is clinically proven and used worldwide but 1000s of people so its not that bizarre really. And to be fair the doctors know my medical history and condition and under those circumstances it was there advice.

.....Anyhow, no matter i was never overly keen on the idea as i posted so i am not going for that method anyhow. I am going to go down the calorie counting route, and i "may" have the odd shake if i am in a hurry etc.

New post later on my plans and updates

Lee,

What idiot doctor did you go to. Taking your body down to a 1000 calories a day will only convince your body that you are trying to starve it and your body will simply become more efficient at storing fat. Also, drinking shakes is only realistic if you plan to do it for life...which I assume you aren't.

The only way to lose weight is to make sure you burn more calories then you consume, and the iphone application is perfect for this. Doesn't really matter that much what you eat, but you will find if you eat healthy foods, you get a lot more food for your calories.

Good luck, find a new doctor!!!

hey Lee,
I ll post tomorrow about shakes and weight loss, since I wrote about that topic in my latest book. in the meantime, use what I call free foods , all leafy greens, broccoli, asparagus, kale, pretty much anything but beans and carrots. This will keep you full and regular.
Best of luck

Thanks Airy,
Yes my Doctor knows me well, he knows my food phobias and he knows my working life (sometimes 17hrs+ without time for break or meals) so i am happy he is doing best for me.
Great advice and i agree a second opinion can help, right now i feel this is a good plan, but my thoughts may change of course.

Maik,
I hear you, and agree to an extent and many thanks for your advice.
However after another trip to discuss this with the doctor and some hard thinking i am going to go with his theory and see how it goes, its only a few weeks and will be having one normal meal and i have also agreed with him that i can have 2-3 fruit/veg smoothies on top of the shakes, so i like to think i will still be ok.

Could do with some simple healthy filling Fruit/Veg smoothy ideas though?

Hey Lee!

When I just started my plan, my nutritionist made me quit all fat in my diet. It was kind of extreme because mexican food has a lot of fat so I started feeling so anxious that I had to seek for help in the first month. I lost about 8 lb (4 kg) but I was going out of my nerves.

I went to see physician and he told me that it was sort of normal because of the lack of something I was so used to (plus I was on meds too). Anyways, he explained to me that the point of it all was to boost my metabolism (as you have already heard) and then I could ( and I had to) get back to eat fat in a moderate way in order to change my habits and never regain my original weight.

What I used to tell the people I worked with about fitness plans (or any other concerns) was to consult a professional, but if you don't really like him/her,or just don't feel confident with, ask for second opinion. It is always valid to try with another person before start if you have any doubts or concerns. Certainly it will give you some light specially if they tell you the same. In case you got very different opinions, you can choose and stick to the one you feel more comfortable with.

The best of Luck on your start!! See ya!

Hi Lee,
i personally don't think much of shakes for weight loss. Its an outdated technique which leaves the dieter hungry and with the wrong nutritional profile. You will lose weight but its mostly muscle and your metabolism will crash. IMO, you are better off preparing the same amount of calories in real foods (chicken, egg whites, veggies) so you have something in your stomach at all times.
You wont be starving, plus the fiber will keep you full and regular.
Feel free to ask me any question you might have.

Hi Lee,

I've heard of this technique before, its harsh but it gets really quick results, and trains your body to accept smaller portions and does boost your metabolismm making you less lethargic and more able to do stuff.

I wouldn't be disheartened if you find it tough to begin with, but by sticking to it, by the end of the second week you will definitely have dropped at least 1 maybe 2 kgs. In 6 weeks you could lose up to like 8 - 10 kgs or even more, which is like 1/6 of what you need to lose - which is a lot!

If you're finding it tough I'd post it on the forum or your blog so we can support each other - I'll do the same. I've been thinking of trying some protein shakes to help recovery and keep appetite in check, so would be really interested in what its like. Can't wait to know how it works after week one - good luck!
