Welcome along to my blog, and i hope you will join along with me on my journey with ShapeUp Club.
Let me get the formal introductions out the way, My name is Lee I am in my mid-thirties and i am living in New Zealand, i originate from England but for now down under is my home and i do love it here.
I am unfortunate in being in a position of needing to lose a very large amount of weight due to being well…. Obese (there i said it). I need to lose in the region of some 65kg! So as you can see this is no ordinary blog about shifting a few extra kilos, this is a journey from Max-Lee to Mini-Me. After going through the Immigration medical and scans it was quite a shock and scare to see how much i have risked my health by being in my current shape.
Now i have to confess, all my life i have ate all the wrong things, drunk all the bad drinks and pretty much led a sedentary lifestyle so its no surprise i am sat here now thinking what to type. So as well as dieting here on ShapeUp Club i plan to attempt a whole change of life with activities and exercise and trying to change my diet from bad foods to healthy choices, which will be extra challenging as i am one of these odd folk that almost have a phobia of healthy green fruit and Vegetables. Yes i have been known to step back in fear from a plate of green plants and grab a bar of chocolate instead!
No longer! It stops TODAY, i plan with the aid of the Iphone application to start off slow and record my daily calories etc and for the next two or three weeks just cut back on the snacks and junk gently so as to not go into sugar or carbs shock, i know from previous attempts i just stopped junk overnight and i ended up feeling awful with sudden change, so this time i plan to just cut some things out for few weeks and then progress fully from there, also i have a blender so will be trying to add some fruit and vegetables in the way of smoothies to start off. I also plan on starting off with some walking to get some exercise going on, i today bought an Ipod gadget for my shoes to track how far i walk and the plan is 2-3km walk three or four nights a week as a starter, and then progressing from that starting point, I do have a Gym membership through my employers but i will keep that back until i fee i could show up there without collapsing!
So, i have rattled on enough for a simple introduction i think. Please i hope you will join in with my progress on this long, tough and difficult challenge and i need your help and support to make it, i asked Martin and Tove if i could do a blog as i think i need the motivation and willpower support that i hope you will all bring to the blog, so please dont let me down.
Time to change………..

Hi Lee,
I can totally relate. I tried cutting out all my junk food overnight and using that method my diet record was two weeks long and I lost nothing. It kind of puts you off trying again doesn’t it? You’ve just got to not try and let it get you down. I’ve lost a lot (20kg), but I am still classified as ‘obese’ – same as you. But I try and think about it as being nearly half way there – if I lost that I can do it again – sort of thing. 65kgs is totally do able (I need to lose 50kgs total), just split it into stages (like 10-20kgs).
Let us know what you’re doing – I need tips, motivation and consolation too!
Sarah.
